Hi friends, I’ve missed connecting with you on the blog these last few weeks… my work, family, and life in general have been a little extra busy lately, but today I’m so glad to finally have the chance to share with you again… and today I’m sharing all about my Fall home!
I know some of you have already jumped into your Christmas decorating, but I’ve always been a bit old fashioned in that I keep my Fall decor up thru Thanksgiving, and then begin my Christmas decorating that holiday weekend. I have been tossing around the idea of decorating for Christmas a little earlier, because it seems a bit unfair that Fall decor is displayed from September thru November, while Christmas decor only lights up our home for a little over a month… so we shall see, maybe next year I will decorate for Christmas a little earlier. Until then.. here is my Home still decorated for Fall! I hope you gain some inspiration for ways to add this cozy season into your home…

And there you have it… my Fall home! I hope you enjoyed a little sneak peek. I truly love this time of year… crisp nights, cozy lamps, Fall scented candles, crock pot dinners, snuggly blankets, pumpkin spice coffees, and for my family… it is also harvest time… so a time for work and thanksgiving.
Thank you for visiting my blog today. I love sharing here with all of you. If you follow me on Instagram, you will see more daily inspiration… follow me here!

Hey friends, I hope you had a great weekend! This weekend was a busy one for me as it was my hubby and I’s 18th wedding Anniversary, and we had a few social events with friends going on as well. We were headed home from one of those events on Saturday morning when I realized we were really close to the Farmgirl Flea Market happening in Hudsonville, MI… a farm and flea market that’s been on my go-to list of markets to attend, but I’d never had the opportunity to visit yet… so needless to say, the timing was perfect, and my husband…well, he was thrilled! (note my sarcasm.) ;)… but seriously what a trooper, and we made a fun afternoon of it, visiting the market, enjoying yummy food truck food, iced tea and fresh squeezed lemonade, and listening to live folk music as we shopped the countless vendors…
The show is held two times a year in the Spring and Fall, at the Hudsonville fairgrounds, beginning with their VIP night on Friday from 4-8pm ($15 entry fee) and continuing the next day on Saturday from 8am-4pm (with a $5 entry fee. ) This market is rated one of the top 100 markets to attend by Flea Market Style Magazine, and has over 200 booths inside the fairground barns and around the grassy fields. The show draws hundreds of people shopping for new and vintage home decor, farmhouse finds, handmade items, boutique clothing, repurposed furniture, and more.
I took some photos to give you a peek inside their Fall market, if you weren’t able to make it this weekend, and so you can also get a little feel for what you to may expect to see at their Spring market coming up (usually in May.)
So many pretty booths and items for sale by the most creative makers and pickers!
I’m a sucker for these little campers all dolled up with boutique clothing and unique home decor… I love shopping them!
There’s was a ton of beautiful and creative Fall harvest decor for sale, and even some hints of Christmas on display too…
I think I could shop these markets every weekend. They are so relaxing and fun to stroll through as you find really unique things you won’t find in many stores.
My hubby even enjoyed himself and I think was surprised to see all the treasures (junk) he seen for sale that we have on our own farm… one person’s junk is another person’s treasure!
The next market Farmgirl Flea is sponsoring is the Christmas Countryside market held on Friday November 29 (12pm-8pm) and Saturday November 30 (9am-5pm) at Countryside Greenhouse in Allendale. There will be a $5 entry fee, with kids 12 and under FREE.
Make sure you keep an eye out for their Spring market, by following them here on their Facebook.
I hope enjoyed this post and have a chance to visit the Farmgirl Flea Market this coming Spring. Their Fall market was great and I will definitely be making the trip to visit again!
Thank you for checking out my blog today! Make sure you are following me on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, AND signed up for my email list so you never miss my posts! Have a great week!

Hey everyone… happy weekend! I hope you have some fun things planned …looks like it’s going to be beautiful Fall weather! I started my weekend out on a great note yesterday when I visited the newest Hobby Lobby store to open in Michigan, and lucky for me it is in my nearby hometown of Mt. Pleasant! Ahhh… excited would be an understatement for how I feel about this Hobby Lobby being so close to my home! I used to have to drive over an hour to visit my closest Hobby Lobby, and now their new store is within 10 miles of my house! I could cry…really, honestly, I’m so overjoyed! I love Hobby Lobby for so many reasons… stylish home decor, great prices, huge selection, sales upon sales, and you can find anything and everything from accent furniture to fabric scissors! I just love it!
So here’s the quick lowdown… the new store is located at 2121 S. Mission St. Mt. Pleasant, Michigan (home of Central Michigan University (my alma mater) and the Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort. If you are from the area, the store is located where the old Kmart used to be, and is open Monday thru Saturday 9am – 8pm. The official ribbon-cutting, “Grand Opening” is actually scheduled for Monday 9/16/19, however this weekend (Friday and Saturday) they are having their soft opening… and of course I made sure I was there to check it all out for you to give you a sneak peek here on my blog!
The first area I seen when I walked in was all of their Fall harvest decor… and holy fall decor there was!… so much to choose from! I could go crazy with all of the adorable, festive items!
One thing I’ve learned from my years of shopping Hobby Lobby is there are always new sales running each week… and if there is a certain item you have your eye on that is not on sale this week‘s sale, hold off buying it until the following week, as it will more than likely be on that next week’s sale. Usually their weekly sales are 50% off whatever that week’s featured decor and craft items are, and furniture is usually at a standard 30% off most days, while seasonal decor fluctuates a bit depending on the time of year. Currently their Fall and Christmas decor is 40% off.
Another option for saving at Hobby Lobby is by taking advantage of their weekly coupon… usually this is something like 40% off a regular priced item, or something similar. Simply check out their online ad each week (click here), and if a coupon is included, print it out or show the clerk via your phone to receive that coupon’s savings. This is so beneficial when you’re shopping for all your weekly sale items, but may come across an item you want that is not included in that week’s sale… to save yourself a trip coming back the following week to see if it is on the new sale, just use your coupon to get the item right then at 40% off… I did this a lot when I had to travel a good hour to visit Hobby Lobby.
Here is more of a sneak peek inside of the new store, and some of the pieces I found that I just loved…
I found the store to be stocked really well, items were organized nicely, the store was laid out in a very logical order, it was super clean, and there were a ton of salespeople available to help with anything customers may need.
Hobby Lobby is also always one of the first stores that is ahead of the game when it comes to bringing out their holiday decor… so of course the new store is already stocked and ready to go with all of their Christmas decor as well!… this is really great for all of you Do It Yourselfers, and crafters who like to get a head start on your Christmas projects, with everything already right there at your disposal.
The only drawbacks… sometimes big stores like Hobby Lobby can feel very overwhelming. I remember my first trip ever, I couldn’t get my bearings on what I needed or wanted, or had issue visualizing how to use certain pieces in my home… because I was just so taken back by all there was displayed to choose from, and because the products are set up more like a warehouse style, where items are not necessarily “staged” like they would be in a furniture store or home decor boutique to help one visualize how pieces could be used in an actual setting.
What I suggest to help that if you get feeling overwhelmed, is you break the store down, one aisle at a time, and add any things to your cart that you like… and then before check out just reevaluate what it is you really need from those things, and then just put the rest back. I’ve always had great luck returning items to Hobby Lobby as well, so even if you need to take somethings home to see if they will work in your actual space or to help visualize how it looks or fits with other pieces in your home, don’t fret as you can easily return things if need be… just remember your receipt!
I hope this has given you a nice little peek into Hobby Lobby in Mt. Pleasant Michigan, and a few of my tips for shopping the store, wherever you live. I went with my mom and 3 daughters, and they all loved the store too! I hope to stop back in, in the coming week and look even closer, as my first visit was more to just get a feel for the overall layout and of course, to share a look of the store with all of you!
You can shop Hobby Lobby today, Saturday 9am – 8pm, and again on Monday for the official Grand Opening celebration! Remember, Hobby Lobby’s are closed on Sundays.
Here’s a couple little pieces I walked away with from my first visit…this adorable Pumpkin Patch sign and these cute oversized fall mugs!
I’m in a transition with all of my decor currently from Summer to Fall, but as you can see… a bit of everything together, can work and make for a cute welcome table, as I did inside my back hallway.
Okay…. one last thing! Big Surprise! I wanted to wrap up this post with my own little way to celebrate the Grand Opening of my local Hobby Lobby with all of you!… So… I’m hosting a $50 Hobby Lobby Gift Card Giveaway on my Facebook & Instagram! See all the details below…

Today I thought I’d share a post about an antique redo I did on a cabinet I’ve had on display in my home for many years. I originally bought this antique cabinet from Gray’s Furniture (more about this quaint furniture store on my post here) about a decade ago, when I just fell in love with the rich red and gold tones that went so nicely with the tuscan/ french country feel I was decorating my home with at the time.
The cabinet has always been one of my favorite pieces of furniture in my home, but I was ready for a new look in my living room (and house overall)…transitioning from the red accents and tuscan style, to more of a vintage/farmhouse style, using softer, neutral colors and comfy, cozy vibes. But… I still loved this cabinet! So, what to do?… I decided to take a weekend afternoon and just refinish it!
Some of you may not know, but I also own a company called Heirloom Grove, a new and vintage home decor market, selling unique treasures online and in antique pop-up locations in my area. One of the products I carry (and swear by!) is Dixie Belle Chalk Paint….I love this furniture paint line. It makes refinishing furniture so easy, enjoyable, and the end results absolutely gorgeous. I find painting furniture so calming and there’s a lot of opportunity to really be creative with the numerous colors, waxes, glazes, and finishes to play with until a piece reaches the desired look you want.
I always start refinishing each piece with Dixie Belle’s White Lightning Cleaner – this stuff is great at cleaning years of grime and dirt that can come with these antique pieces. A couple tablespoons of White Lightening in a gallon of water gives a deep cleaning and nice preparation before I paint.
After I let this piece dry, I painted the interior and shelves with the color Fluff – a pretty white paint that really crispened up the interior and added a nice two-tone dimension when paired with the gray exterior.
When I moved to the exterior of the cabinet, I painted 1 coat of Manatee Gray over the entire outside with my Belle Brush and Chip Brush… it took only 1 coat of this light gray finish to cover the dark RED… seriously, great paint with amazing coverage!
The gray finish was a bit lighter than I wanted for the cabinet though, and I also wanted to have more dimension and texture, so I applied Best Dang Wax in Grunge Gray with my Chip Brush, to all of the exterior detailed areas, and to the flat surfaces too…wiping, rubbing, and brushing until I had the desired color and texture I aimed to achieve. I used a spray bottle to wet the brush a little before I dipped it in the wax, as I find it spreads the wax a little more evenly.
The beautiful thing about this paint is if I don’t like how something is coming out, I simply paint over it and try again! The products are water based, so there is no particular “order” of products to use/when…. if you put a top coat on and don’t like the finish… then just paint over it and try something else.
I finished the project by applying 1 coat of Clear Satin Top Coat to seal with a nice satiny finish. You don’t need to apply a top coat of any sort with this paint line, but I usually like to add one of the finishing products to complete the look and help for long-term durability.
The whole project took about 8 ounces of Manatee Gray paint, 4 ounces of Fluff paint, 4 ounces of Clear Satin Top Coat, and about 4-5 hours of paint time, including dry times. A little of this paint goes a long way in achieving a brand new look for a treasured piece.
I am really enjoying the new look this redone piece has brought to my living room. It sits in the same exact spot as it was before (future blog post of my remodeled living space coming soon…) but it looks like a completely new addition to the room. I accented with some new decor pieces, and I am really excited for more years of use with this gorgeous piece of furniture (that I think I originally paid less than $400 for!)
If you are interested in trying Dixie Belle Paint… please message me! I can help give you color suggestions (there are over 64 colors) and finish recommendations based on your desired look. I carry the top-selling products right on my Heirloom Grove site, and also sell the complete product line (as found on Dixie Belle’s site…just shoot me a message what yo u need! If you decide to try this paint, I would love to ship your first order to you FREE! (Also, my Heirloom Grove site always offers FREE Shipping on orders of $100 or more (including all of my Home Decor pieces, Antique Candle Co. Candles, and Dixie Belle Paint.) Seriously, contact me! I love repping this great USA made brand of chalk paint, and would love to help you get acquinted with Dixie Belle… I use this chalk paint line on all of my painting pieces!
